Profile

I am a Professor of Environmental Geography at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. My work focuses on the intersection of climate action and social equity. I work with communities and governments across the Caribbean to accelerate the adoption of innovative climate-resilient strategies to secure a sustainable future.

My science-policy work involves serving on several intergovernmental scientific assessment teams, including the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), the World Ocean Assessment (WOA), the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), and the Global Environment Outlook (GEO).

I provide environmental policy advice to governments across the Caribbean, and I am actively involved in several large-scale collaborative and transdisciplinary research initiatives focused on climate change adaptation, biodiversity conservation, disaster risk reduction, and sustainable development in the region.
